Rahab and the Spies

Biblical Basis • Joshua 2:1-17, 21
After the death of Moses, God chose Joshua to be the new leader of his people, to lead them into the Promised Land. The city of Jericho was one of the strongest that stood in their way. So Joshua sent spies into they city to observe their defenses.

Lesson Prayer
Everlasting God, by your very nature you are loyal and true. Grant that we would share that characteristic, that others could count on us in times of need, and that we would be steadfast and devoted. You bless us with your love and constant care, and we thank you. We pray this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Creative Idea for the Week
Divine Direction
The Israelites were directed to an unlikely assistant in this mission of information gathering in Jericho. God sent them to a woman who, though not a Hebrew, was reverent toward the Lord God of Israel. Do we trust that God will guide our way in life? That he will lead us to the people and places he wants us to go in order to accomplish his mission?
Set up an obstacle course in a large room. Have students take turns guiding each other (while blindfolded) through the course. Talk together about how easy or difficult it was to listen and respond to the directions given.
